Overcome Hunger!

Happy Ash Wednesday (is that an oxymoron?)!

St Mark's EYC has been asked to participate in Feed the Lambs Backpack program Smiley, which fills 30 backpacks each week for kids on the Westside. Bring your donations THIS Friday (February 24th)--either to the 30 Hour Famine, or drop them off at church. Let's make a difference! Here is a list of what they need:

The 30 Hour Famine is this weekend (February 24th-25th)! If you can't join us in fasting, you can still help out by volunteering with our group for the Ortega River Run on Saturday morning! Let me know if you are available.

The fast begins at noon on Friday (or after your lunch period). By raising money, and then fasting for 30 hours, you can change the lives of children around the world. Check out the Famine video:

We are meeting at the Youth Center at 6 p.m. on Friday night, and we will end at 7 p.m. Saturday night. We will also be "honored" at the 8:45 service on Sunday (Feb 26th), so make sure to be at church!

Check out some of Sunday night's Mardi Gras decorations:

New Beginnings (a Diocesan retreat weekend for 6th-8th graders) is coming up on the weekend of March 23-25 Smiley! Click here for more information. Sign up today for a great weekend of fun and faith!

St Mark's Follies tickets are officially on sale Smiley! You can buy tickets after church for the next two Sundays, or from anyone going on the Mission Trip. St Mark's Follies is Sunday, March 4th from 5-7 p.m. in Leatherbury Hall. Mission Trippers, you each need to sell $25!

The next St Mark's Follies Planning Meeting is Thursday, March 1st from 7-8 p.m. in the church library. It's our last meeting before Follies, so please make an extra effort to be there! Follies participation is mandatory if you are going on the Mission Trip Smiley!

We ARE doing Ice Cream and Cake as our Youth Follies act Smiley! We'll be practicing this week during the Famine, but make sure you know the moves. Here's the video:

Quote of the Week Smiley: "Exercise daily in God—no spiritual flabbiness, please! Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever." --1 Timothy 4:7 (Message)

The final pictures are from Sunday's EYC. Have a great first week of Lent! Remember that God loves you, and so do I Smiley!
